Gringo PricesVenezuelans like to try and charge 'gringo's' higher prices. They even try it on Venezuelan people. This is very common in local busses. When travelling with your bakpack on local buses, DON'T pay extra just because you have a bag with you. If the money collector complains that your bag takes up too much room, tell him you'll put it on your lap if the bus fills up.ALWAYS ask the price of transportaion before heading off. Otherwise you could be charged a small fortune.

If you like to arrange a trip into the jungle without contacting a tourist office, remember that it is very difficult to negotiate with the Indian people. They have a very different way of seeing things. We spent 3 days trying to get a trip into the jungle with the Yanomami, and we didn't succeed, although we had a great time trying to arrange it.
