 | Morocco Reviews | Tips 1 - 10 of 303 | | Large hotel in a nice location 27 km up my favourite road in Morocco - the Dades Gorge road - just before the hair spin bends and situated in amongst sloping ochre cliffs and a river. Perfect spot for walks around the Gorges area and for continuing the drive on further to gorges and the spectacular sights along the way to Msemrir
Very friendly and professional staff - the management will make you feel very welcome and look after you - excellent menu choice and the meals are excellent - open and available till late. large spacious rooms, modern but with the tradtional Moroccan accessories that add that character and atmosphere to your stay. The rooms that face the river all have their own balcony so thats excellent. Theres an open air dining area across the road next to the river as well which is nice for those long warm nights. Very cold at winter but there are plans for heating to be installed for this coming winter. It can be hard getting accommodation in the main tourist towns in Morocco if you arrive late in the day. Either try and book ahead or be willing to settle for ANY room you can find even if it means 7 in a bed!!!!! This is what happened to us upon our arrival in Meknes in August. Then to our horror after a very early awakening so we could travel to Volubilis, we found we were locked in!!! There was no one on reception and no way out. So always make sure you notify someone if you are planning an early departure! Leave a Comment Theme: HotelComparison: about average

I actually stayed here on three different occasions while in Morocco. This was by accident rather than design. However it did not disappoint. The rooms could use some minor maintenance such as a fresh coat of paint but the plumbing is fine.
The hotel has a very good restaurant. The staff was helpful and friendly ( I should have listened to them about eating in the Djenaa el Fna). The location is hard to beat as it is just about 300m from the Djenaa el Fna. My only beef about the hotel was that it could get noisy as there were a bunch of English school children staying at the hotel one night. This hotel is popular with budget tours heading up to the Atlas Mountains. The Hotel Marco Polo was not in the least way, fancy hotel but it suited me fine when I arrived in Tangier. The hotel is right on the waterfront, close to the beach. It is also only a ten minute walk from the old town. One the downside, the hotel could use a little maintenance.
The staff here was quite friendly. The restaurant was actually pretty good and should be recommended. It serves German food. There is also a bar which fortunately is well to the front of the hotel so that the noise from it will not keep you awake at night. The Hotel Royal, just a five minute walk from the station. Leaving the station you walk in a virtually straight line up a tree lined avenue that reminded me of the layout you find in a lot of Spanish towns. The old man who ran the Royal was very friendly and gave me a room on the ground floor that had a nice view out onto the courtyard. It was clean, very spacious and even had en-suite shower with hot water, all for 100 DH a night, payable in advance
Close to station and the main part of the new town. All the tourist attractions are within walking distance, or a short taxi rides away. Leave a Comment

The room I was given on the first floor was bright and airy, if a little small. The walls were painted bright orange, the window did not shut properly, the shower was skew whiff, there were no towels and it was at least 100 degrees in here, it was just right and more than adequate for my needs! The only thing I was not to sure about was the red and white baby blanket resplendent in teddy bear images and the words sweet dreams that covered the bed.
Tucked away in a quite road this hotel is more than adequate for the backpacker. Just downstairs is the Cafe Rialto where you can get good food and drinks should you need. A five minute or so walk from the Medina. Overall the hotel was adquate if all you want is somewhere clean and tidy, with all the basics you need. Leave a Comment

Set in a beautiful tranquil setting in the Dades gorge, the Hotel le Vieux Chateaux du Dades was surprisingly empty apart from us. Set on the side of the narrow road that runs through the Gorge and right next to a river it had marvellous views all around it and was certainly a nice enough place to stay. Yet looking at the tariff it was no more expensive then the Hotel Ali in Marrakech, which itself was cheap enough. Our rooms were allocated to us on the lower floor of this three-floor establishment. My spacious room with a stone tiled floor had two single beds and a nice bathroom that had a shower and western style toilet. The window looked out onto the river that flowed by alongside the high imposing orange and red rock-face on the other side. The only thing it didn’t have was any electricity in the room? I wasn’t the only one as no one else had any either, on making some inquiries we found out that the electricity was supplied via the use of a generator, and as it was still light they would not be switching it on until around 6 p.m. That was fair enough, I could see everything fine, and there was no real need for any artificial light anyway.
A beautiful setting and very reasonable prices. Well worth it just for the ambiance of the surroundings. Leave a Comment Theme: HotelPrice: less than US$20 » Currency ConverterComparison: about averageAddress: Hotel le Vieux Chateaux du Dades - Dades Gorge

BERBER VILLAGE OF TAMTATTOUCHT The Berber village of Tamtettoucht sets in the heart of the Atlas Mountains, Morocco. Its name comes from ancient times when this entire valley was controlled by the Ait Izdi. Once, this family maintained crops while nomads from the mountains hunted and collected herbs. Often these two people came together in the rural community market to exchange goods. When the Ait Izdi moved to Ziz valley these mountain nomads were invited to take care of the crops with a twelve-monthly payment of half the harvest. Each year a caravan of donkeys would cross the Atlas Mountains to delivery the annual fee ending with a vast feast. Tamda means "place with water good enough to plant" and Toucht "leasing of fields with yearly payment". External Link to this page here: Gorges du Todra

Cascade is a budget hotel although it is spacious and well equipped. It even has hot water and one European style toilet in two. The hotel comes equipped with is own Ali G style Character who can get you anything you want including Alcohol which is not easy to come by in Muslim countries (but do expect to pay over the odds). It also has a roof garden where you can even sleep in summer if you want to. It seems to be a popular thing to do in Morocco. You must bring your own sleeping bag to do this though. If you don’t fancy sleeping out there it’s a great place to watch the stars (with less light pollution in Africa they are incredible).
Ali G (though watch out he's quite a ladies man. Leave a Comment Theme: HotelComparison: less expensive than averageDirections: Right by the gateway into Fez
