Central Hotel

Great (4.0 of 5.0 stars)
by written on January 6, 2008

Very nice place. They have a number one and a number two. I think I was in number two. The price was sixteen dollars for the first night, but I got two dollars off per night for staying longer. It's on a main street but quiet. There's free Internet but it's slow. The room was serviced daily and the staff honest and friendly. Breakfast is included. The room was large, with TV English channels, fridge, comfy bed and window.

Our first hotel in Vietnam

Great (4.0 of 5.0 stars)
by written on March 16, 2007

It was our first asian experience and booked online. They picked us up at the airport even after the 6 hours delay we had. Rooms were nice and CLEAN. Linen changed every day, and breakfast was tasty and o.k.
We planned to stay one or 2 nights, but we booked with them after Along-bay and after touring the country when we had to go back to Hanoi before going to Europe.
Right in the middle of the Old Quarter.
People working there is friendly, and they do their best.

Classic 1 hotel.

Great (4.0 of 5.0 stars)

The stay here was very pleasant. I stayed with my family and had a room with three beds, with both my brothers on the other two. My parents stayed in a separate room.

Through this hotel we organised our trip to Ha Long Bay, and were able to store most of our luggage here as well, which was ideal.

There was airconditioning, an elevator taking you between floors, which is pretty good considering they have 7 floors lol.

There was also a cable television which had a number of channels in english on it. Also a IDD telephone, of which should u use it, will be charged later.

Unique Quality: Very friendly staff.

Small restaurant which serves a basic breakfast.

Directions: Near the north of Hoan Kiem lake, From the roundabout, go north up Hang Dao, then turn right up hang bac, before turning left up Ta Hien.

Perfect! They do their best to make you feel at home. There is a small travel agencie there, so you can book all the short trips from Hanoi with no problems at all.
Beds are in good conditions and everything is clean.
Breakfast is very good too.

Unique Quality: It is very well situated in the middle of classic Hanoi, you just walk out the door and you are there!

Old City

Good (3.0 of 5.0 stars)
by written on January 17, 2004

Small hotels such as this are 10 a penny in the old city and are all fairly similar - basic reception area, rooms of different sizes (and cost). The Classic is no different - rooms (en suite) are basic but clean, all with outside looking windows on 7 floors (luckily there's a lift!).

Room costs vary between US$10-25, dependent on size and location (seemed the higher you went, the more expensive) - which included breakfast (although breakfast was in a small, dark room so we never bothered). But negotiate! And ask to see a few rooms first.

Unique Quality: Nothing special, but very friendly, great location (the street is a little quieter than many in the old city!) and they are happy to look after bags if you are going out of Hanoi for a few days and you want to limit your baggage.

Directions: Almost next door to Thuy Nga Guest House (as feautured in Lonely Planet)

In the heart of the Old Quarter

Great (4.0 of 5.0 stars)
by written on December 4, 2003

Very well located right in the centre of the Old Quarter the Classic I has incredibly friendly and helpful staff. The rooms are very well sized and I had a view out of the window onto the streets filled with local atmosphere. The only problem was that drivers in Vietnam believe that the horn on their bikes is there and so must be used regardless of time of day. So there really was no chance of sleeping late in the morning. The real noise started at about 6:30, but This is probably true all over Hanoi - not just this hotel.

I had decided that I was going to stay at the Classic before I arrived but hadn't made any reservations. Luckily there was a driver from the Classic at the airport to pick up some other visitors who didn't turn up so I was able to get to the hotel with no problems.

Unique Quality: Great location and friendly staff.
In-house travel desk able to book tours and tickets.

Directions: In the middle of the Old Quarter
