CENTENNIAL PARK: FREE CAMPING FOR 24 HOURS
KALGOORLIE IS A RV FRIENDLY TOWN.
Not only is there a free camp, but a parking area behind Coles/Kmart just for Caravans and Motorhomes. This makes life so much easier for the Caravan traveller

Next to the lovely Centennial park is a FREE 24HOUR CAMPING AREA

When I say free camp, you must be fully self-contained, this means shower and toilet in caravan/motorhome, or at least a toilet. NO TENTS.
We stayed here 24 hours and were quite surprised how quite it was after the work traffic had stopped. We were parked next to the Toilet block in the park and used the park BBQ's to cook our Dinner.

BE AWARE - THIS AREA IS VISITED BY A RANGER DAILY WHO TAKES DOWN VEHICLE REGISTRATION NUMBERS SO HE KNOWS WHO HAS OVERSTAYED THEIR TIME.
The area is really on a stop-over point as there are plenty of caravan parks in Kalgoorlie for longer stays.

DISCOVERY HOLIDAY PARK: GOOD PARK!
Where to stay in Kalgoorlie-Boulder? We had quite a choice as there are many caravan parks here.
The one we chose was in Boulder and a Top Tourist Park which meant we received 10% off the total of our stay as we were members.

Booking in was a pleasure! I had a really lovely lady to deal with and we were soon on our way to our site. The site was large and had a concrete slab so we could sit outside on this and not drag gravel into our caravan. This is a big park that caters for caravanners, campers and people who wish to stay in a range of cabins from budget to deluxe.

The park had a good amenities block with plenty of showers and toilets, a laundry ($4 wash) dryers and plenty of washlines, Caravan dump point, swimming pool, bbq's, children's playground and internet access. The camp kitchen was excellent! There were three fridges, two free bbqs', under cover seating, a Television, 2 gas cookers and everything else you may need.

One night they had a sausage sizzle where we met other people. Cost was a gold coin donation. In Summer they have these every week.

The park was quiet except for one day when the wind must have been coming from the direction of the airport - That day we heard the planes.
The location was good, very easy to head into the city centre of either Boulder or Kalgoorlie.
Altogether, we had a pleasant stay here and would return again.

Powered site for 2 people in 2016 = $39 night

Check out the website for a large selection of Cabins ranging from Standard to Deluxe.
http://www.discoveryholidayparks.com.au/wa/burt_st_kalgoorlie_boulder/kalgoorlie

Kalgoorlie Accommodation Caravan Park: Nice campground in less pleasant surroundings
Kalgoorlie Accommodation Caravan Park claims to be "centrally located" but it proves not to be. The campground is actually located not in Kalgoorlie but in Boulder, a 2.5 kms walk from the town centre. Felt unsafe on the way. Finding something to eat after 8 p.m. was a challenge, the town closes down early.

The campground itself is really nice. The big swimming pool is definitely a plus. Its vicinity to the airport, however, makes it rather noisy, luckily there are not many planes during the night. And it was among the more expensive campgrounds during our trip.

The Palace Hotel was built in 1897 during the height of the prosperity of the goldrush times. It was built to be the most ‘luxurious hotel’ outside of Perth. It was build from stone quarried from the Ashlar quarries. Fresh water was pied into the bathrooms and electric lighting was produced from its own generator – a first. In its day, the hotel was grand and impressive and a well used meeting place. Quite a notable regular guest of the hotel was Herbert Hoover who at the time was a young US mining engineer who went on to continue his career in China before becoming the 31st President of the United States in 1929. He actually fell in love with a local barmaid while staying in the hotel.
Each room has a colour TV., fridge, coffee/tea making facilities, bathroom, aircon and phone. Some rooms also have a mini bar and Balcony Room has its own private balcony. There is a Family Room which has an interconnecting room with a single bed. There are several bars as well as a Scottish and TAB bar. There is also a huge mirror which was presented to the hotel by the 31st US President, Herbert Hoover in the foyer.
