Camping de Collignon: Convenient Camping

"The camp site's shop was not well stocked, and the next morning I breakfasted on stale bread, while Ioan tucked into a tin of mixed vegetables." - from my travelogue.

Probably the most convenient camping ground in Cherbourg is available at Camping de Collignon in Tourlaville, on the outskirts of western part of town. It's about 4km from central Cherbourg, which means it is just about walkable, but you can get a bus direct to Tourlaville, or drive there. More information on prices, and a interactive map of Cherbourg, can be found here..

You can find a whole list of local campsites, and contact details, here.

Hotel le Saint Michel: Hotel le Saint Michel

We have paid, during our stay in May 2002, 56 euros per day for a room for 2 persons. We had room number 5, with a view on the bay of the Mont.

One of the lowest prices on the Mont. The owners are really friendly and very helpful.

Quality Hotel Cherbourg: It's new name is "La Fayette Hotel Restaurant"

Maybe April and May are still not good seasons for visiting Cherbourg, the hotel was almost empty. The consequences were no one clean the room at daily basis, entertainment facilities were all closed, and usually no one sitting at the reception desk.

The hotel is also a little bit far from the city center, although Cherbourg is a pretty small town, it's still not very convenient.

All in all, it is one of the only two 3-star hotels in Cherbourg.

Although the restaurant in the hotel was ranked one of the most favorited restaurants, there were nobody eating there during my stay.

Camping Anse-du-Brick: The best Camping in Normandy

This was our base from where we explored Cotentin peninsula and Normandie. More informatie about this great camping can be found on my VT-pages of Maupertus-sur-Mer, which is situated only a few kilometres East from Cherbourg.
