CAN’T BE TRUSTED

Bad (2.0 of 5.0 stars)

The Hotel Nuevo advertises 2 things. One is a swimming pool and the second is a free extra bed for children. I found that neither one was true. The fact that the parent was in her 70’s and the child in their 40’s shouldn’t make a difference either. OK. How did these people take a very nice hotel and mess it all up for me? My Mum wanted me to show here around Europe. I put together a plan that involved going to/from Madrid twice. I booked 3 different hotels for separate stays. I loved the photo of the swimming pool featured first on the Nuevo Boston website. I imagined a swim in the nice looking pool.

So we arrived at the Nuevo Boston courtesy of their free shuttle bus from the airport. Our separate rooms were ready and the hotel looked very nice. I agreed to meet my Mum for dinner in the hotel after I went for a swim. Then I was told, the pool is closed for weeks! The pool I saw, booked and paid for was not in operation. I asked why they didn’t tell me when I booked months before. I was told they had a sign up at the entrance of the pool! EH!?

OK, my room was very nice. Bed, good. Bathroom functional. Hotel – quiet. So we ate dinner in the hotel as we had an early stay. The food was excellent. Not cheap but excellent. So then I made a decision. Despite no pool, I liked the hotel so I went down to reception. I enquired if we could have 2 rooms after we returned from Marrakech. Yes – 2 rooms, no issue. No problem at all. We have taken care of this. You can trust us (again). I then got on the internet and cancelled the other Motel.
So after a fantastic stay at The Riad Chouia Chouia in Marrakech, we flew back to Madrid, this time late in the evening. When we arrived the receptionist looked confused. ‘You have a reservation?’. ‘Are you sure?’. Another staff member was summoned. Same questions. Phone calls were made while my Mum and I stood there wondering how bad this would be.

‘We have one room left’.

Really!????

At least it was a king-size bed, but having to share a bed with your Mum for the first time since I was an infant was not cool. At least Mum doesn’t snore. But I didn’t get a free child’s bed.

Totally unimpressed and cannot recommend these people. Their organisation and communication skills are poor. A real shame. We stayed in a much better hotel near the airport, but sadly they made it into private apartments.
