Avenida Inn: Not So Nice Accommodations
It costs over $500 for the cheapest room at the Hotel Del Coronado for a one night stay. And, because I rather spend that money shopping or dining at a restaurant, I chose to stay at the Avenida Inn for US$180 per night (with tax US$206). But, as the saying goes, you get what you pay for. Well, $180 per night should be a decent stay. In this case, not worth it. I will try the Best Western next time. Convenience was great. It's across the street from the Hotel Del Coronado. Room was ugly. The bathroom was ugly. The sheets on the bed were rough - as if they were several, several years old. No hot tub but did have a swimming pool. They have a complimentary Continental breakfast but it's served in the hotel lobby which was about 300 square feet. No place to sit, coffee, tea, juice and pastries.

North Island Navy Lodge: Simple and affordable
We spent 9 nights at the North Island Navy Lodge. You must be a member of the military to stay here, so this review won't be helpful to everyone. Think Motel 6 or Super 8. It was clean, no extras. Very quiet. Had a kitchenette so we could cook our own food and a very small balcony. The people working there were very nice our whole stay. They also had a little tent coffee shop set up and lots of good coffees to choose from.
Hands down, the best part was the private beach that was about 200 yards from our room. There is also a huge Navy Exchange with a travel office where you can buy discounted tickets to local attractions.
