Convenient to Downtown

Great (4.0 of 5.0 stars)
by written on October 25, 2015

My fiance and I like Residence Inns. This one in the Kearney Mesa area of San Diego County did not disappoint. We stayed here for three nights in September of 2015.

The unit we stayed in was an adequate sized studio room. The room had a king size bed and a large kitchen. The kitchen was stocked with everything we needed to make lunch or dinner.

The room was spotlessly clean. The bed was a little soft but comfortable. The bathroom was also very clean and the shower provided plenty of hot water. The room was also quiet.

The breakfast contained a choice of cold and hot items. The servers made sure that depleted items were filled quickly. The fresh waffles were particularly good and not like the standard waffle makers you see in many hotels.

We did not try the wi-fi connection. The TV worked fine and had a wide selection of channels.

There was both a pool and gym but we did not use it.

There was plenty of free parking at the hotel.

All in all for the price, using free Marriott points, the hotel was a reasonable bargain if you don't mind staying out in Kearney Mesa and driving to downtown San Diego.

Unique Quality: Clean newer Residence Inn at a reasonable rate with attentive staff.

The unlimited beer and popcorn at nights was a welcome surprise.

Quiet and Comfortable

Great (4.0 of 5.0 stars)
by written on December 7, 2006

Stayed at the Residence Inn for 9 nights in Dec. 2005 while doing some DOD work. It was comfortable and quiet, even during renovations. Breakfast every morning was good with ample selections. Reception on weeknights good enough to substitute for dinner at a resturant on some evenings. Having a full kitchen was also helpful in saving my per diem money!
One minor complaint: the hot tub wasn't hot eough.
