Best On-Site Hotel Value

Good (3.0 of 5.0 stars)
by written on December 27, 2015

There are currently four on-site hotels (a fifth, Sapphire Falls, is under construction), but only three give you the perks of Express Pass within the parks, so do not be fooled by the prices of Cabana Bay if you want that perk. Royal Pacific, when booked early, is typically the least expensive of the three hotels with the Express Pass amenity.
I was looking around my room and thinking how tired it looked and that it needed a renovation... within hours of that thought, I heard the construction. Lucky me, they were renovating the hotel while I was there - including shutting the water off all day on a Sunday. No one ever warned us if this - just a note shoved under our door that Sunday. I complained after our stay in an e-mail and the survey, but got only a canned response, so I don't have much confidence in their personal level of service. They know people will be back if they want to go to the park. While I would have chosen a different on-site property had I known all of this, they're all run by the same company that doesn't seem to care.

All of that said, we have had great experiences with the service-level employees in the Royal Pacific. My husband and I always stay in the Club Level because we find that we don't really need to buy any food or water on the park when we use the club. The staff in the club takes the time to get to know you, they are helpful, compassionate, and gracious.
Our normal park visiting schedule (during HHN) allows us to eat breakfast at the club, head to the park and come back to the hotel for a nap and light lunch (Smuckers Uncrustables and a banana - they have a couple other choices, but that's the most lunch-like). The "happy hour" starts at 4pm where they serve beer and wine and hot food that is substantial enough for most to call it dinner. Each time we're in there, we grab a couple bottles of water - you can take them into the park as long as they are sealed. We always miss the evening dessert because we're at HHN, but we most definitely get our money's worth out of the extra $80 night we pay for the club.

Unique Quality: The Royal Pacific holds on tightly to their Pacific Islander theme - saying "Aloha" and "Mahalo" to everyone.
