Simple Haven Bed & Breakfast: Comfy night's rest in an 1886 limestone farmhouse
This is an ideal place to stay when visiting nearby attractions such as Lucas, the Grassroots Arts Capital; Lake Wilson; or exploring the Post Rock Scenic Byway.
I learned about the Simple Haven Bed & Breakfast while devising a tour itinerary for a small group I would be leading to those areas. It was a hit with our tour group - comfortable, reasonably priced, and with such an incredible breakfast. Joe and Susan hit it off immediately with our friends, and sat around the kitchen table chatting well into the night. Then we discovered that Joe was also a former music teacher, that he had also graduated from Kansas University, and that we had many friends in common. Great times! Note - if asking for directions, get them from Joe, not Susan. (Or ask Susan to tell you about the night she got a bunch of old city people lost out on the country roads while searching for a hamburger.) Funny story, now in the retelling.
Simple Haven is a charming old limestone farmhouse, tastefully decorated, yet comfortable enough that it was easy to make oneself feel at home. All rooms feature a private bath, full breakfast, cable television, and wireless internet.
In the late 1920s, a water tower was built on the property which is now being renovated for use as an area for sitting and relaxing. The project nearly completed, I am eager to return when the weather is warmer to take full advantage of it.
