Quiet Hide-Away

Best (5.0 of 5.0 stars)
by written on August 7, 2012

I've stayed here before and really love the quietness after you've been on Bourbon Street for the evening. It's always been very clean and the owners never disturb you. I've known them for several years and they're very accommodating and friendly. This place is like being in the real New Orleans because it's in an original home. I love the courtyard too. It's very safe with the locked gate and quiet. I will always come back to this little hide-away. I've stayed in the two bedroom suite with our friends and it's just perfect. You have got to give this place a try........you'll feel right at home!

Unique Quality: Pretty courtyard!

Directions: French Quarters

Great Location

Great (4.0 of 5.0 stars)
by written on February 1, 2005

I stayed at Bon Maison January 28-31. Built in 1833 it has great character. I had a room in the former slave quarters on the back side of the inner courtyard on the third floor. No elevator so it was great for the leg muscles.

The room was clean with a kitchenette, cable t.v. and lots of hot water.

A great location, just where Bourbon Street gets quiet (except for Fat Tuesday because of the number of people). It is eight blocks to Canal Street and 4 blocks to Decatur (Cafe du Monde).

Especially nice is being able to get away from the rowdiness of Bourbon Street to rest and refresh, change clothes, drop off purchases, etc.

This is not for people who want brand new rooms and all the amenities (room service, etc.) but for people who want to feel like they are experiencing the city from a place that has great character.

Unique Quality: I didn't stay in one, but there is a suite with a balcony overlooking Bourbon Street which would be a little bit noisier but you would also get to look down Bourbon Street at the spectacle of it all.

Directions: On Bourbon Street in the heart of the French Quarter
