Old world Charm

Best (5.0 of 5.0 stars)
by written on April 23, 2008

We stayed at the Algonquin in Feb 2007. It was my first time ever in New York and I couldn't have asked for for a better introduction to the city. We arrived without a reservation and was lucky enough to get a room. It faced to the back and was fairly small, but it was more than adequate. The hot water was Hot and the bed comfortable. The Staff in the Hotel were outstanding - especially the Concierge. She Suggested a restaurant near by for dinner that was absolutely superb. She also found us tickets for The Lion King - even though it was sold out.
I would recommend the Algonquin to anybody wanting a hotel that is out of the ordinary. I am planning a trip to New York in the Summer and will definitely stay at the Algonquin.

Unique Quality: The Staff is what set this Hotel apart for me, and of course the history of the whole place.

The Algonquin is an oasis of tranquility in the centre of madness that is New York. Great City though. It is worth more that the 3 1/2 stars it is given. Old world charm, comfort ,and GREAT beds. Staff are considrate and helpful. Very near Times Square. Great base for seeing Manhatten.
