One of New York's Grande Dames

by written on April 13, 2005

If your pocketbook can afford it, the Sherry-Netherland is one of New York's poshest luxury hotels. My experience with the hotel comes from the free perspective of its exterior and lobby, and if these are fair indicators this is one theatrical place to stay. For those who can't afford to stay, the building's outward architecture resembles a darker silhouette of the Woolworth Building downtown.

Unique Quality: The hotel boasts famed Cipriani's, a place where celebrities come. . .in-room massage therapy . . . full concierge service. . .an address in which many rooms overlook Central Park. . .limousine and valet service. . .all-around 5-star service since 1927.

Directions: just east of southeast corner of Central Park by the Plaza Hotel
