Sam Houston National Park: Sam Houston National Park

Primitive camping in the forest is free, and camping at the campgrounds runs from $10-$15 a night.

You can do primitive camping anywhere you want in the forest, but they have two established campgrounds where you can pay to camp. They have fire rings, and water spigots nearby, as well as restrooms with hot showers nearby.

If wanting to find great deals...

If wanting to find great deals for lodging and the sort you must visit www.hotwire.com! They have some of the best prices, if not the best, I have ever seen on the net. I got 3 nights in New York's 'Millenium Hotel' for $100.00 a night! (2 weeks before the tragedy) :(<br/>The average price as of 10-4-01 $61.00 a night in a four star hotel!

They offer deals on flights, hotels, car rentals, &amp; have good customer service too.

Try to hook up with someone...

Try to hook up with someone from a university. There are several universities in Houston with lots of great and friendly students. Of course, you can also pick your favorite hotel or motel chain. Because of the heat and humidity, I can't imagine that Houston would make a very good city for camping, although I am sure there is some place around Houston designated for campers.

I lived in a community, just...

I lived in a community, just where the local inhabitants live. My house looked exactly like one in the picture.
