Osborne Inn: Comfortable Victorian

This Inn is one of the National Historic Landmarks. Built originally as a hotel in 1894 by William Osborne and run by his wife Margaret Beck Osborne, it is an outstanding example of Victorian Pattern book architecture. It has always been treasured and taken care of and is in good shape. Recently opened again to the public it is one of only two or three places to stay right in Spring City.

With its welcoming parlor, cozy breakfast room, original woodwork and modern upgrades it is a comfortable and comforting place to visit.

We were welcomed late at night by an open door, a note on the table and a fire in the wood stove. The parlor had a full bookshelf and I picked a few books to read as I sat by the fire. I ended up reading from the binder full of information about Spring City, the history, the people, the modern activities. There was a grand piano and plenty of parlor games as well to chose from.

Our room was on the ground floor with an entrance to the back. It was private and well cared for. The bathroom though a bit small and fitted with an old claw foot bath was provided with large thick towels.

Included of course was breakfast. We were able to select what we wanted from a small menu the night before and then Barbara had it ready when we requested. It was delicious and filling.
