When you drive in Lubumbashi and whole Katanga, you will very often see on the side of the road you will see people with yellow helmets and yellow shirts. They are supposed to be road police. In fact, they just stop you to collect your money.
If they stop you, try first to escape. If it is not possible, stop, block the doors of your car and only open 5 cm of your window.
Be very polite, call them Commander.
If they ask you the documents of your car and your driving licence, show them through the window but DON'T give them, else you are done!
Of course, have your documents always with you and have them valid.
If everything is OK, and they don't have your documents, you will be able to go. If they have your documents, they will not give them back to you if you dn't give money.
Anytime you se an opportunity to escape, go. hey have no weapon, no communication, no car. And very often, they cannot read, so they cannot take you license plate number.
