Riversdale Things to Do

  • Bali Trading

Just off the N1 outside Riversdale you will find Bali Trading. It is a lovely stop to make as they have some really nice stuff that they import from Bali.

  • Go to the beach at Stilbaai

Stilbaai is only approx 27km away, so why not stay in Riversdale if you cannot find accommodation in Stilbaai and just drive thru for the day. You will definately save a lot of money doing it this way.

  • The English church

I think that this is an Anglican church, but not too sure. However they do have the most beautiful church bell, similar to the slave bells you find on the Cape Dutch farms in the Western Cape region.

Riversdale Restaurants

  • Take away Fried Chicken

This shop sells fried chicken and cips at very cheap prices, so if you on a low budget, the food I ate was quite good. in 2009 May you could even buy ( 1 chicken wing with chips for ZAR 10) its a really cheap meal if you really counting the pennies. They make coffee as well.

  • Take Away fried fish

This is a budget take away meal, fried fish and drinks.. Riversdale gets some of its fresh fish from a small fishing village close by, ( WITSAND or STILBAAI/ STILBAY)So if you are on a budget and feel like some nice fried fish, then this is the place to look for it.

  • Saddles- good food

The Saddles Restaurant is on the N2 in Riversdale right where the busses load people on and off, ideal if you waiting for your bus in Riversdale. This tree is planted in front of the restaurant

Riversdale Shopping

  • sells all sorts of things

This shop sells all sorts of things, they make photo copies, sell spices, childrens toys, watch batteries, gifts, and so many different things, prices are quite good.

  • Bargain shop

This is a little shop down one of the side streets running out of the main road, it sells all sorts of things, there are a few shops like this in Riversdale, so take a walk down some of the small side streets.

This supermarket sells food, drinks and general household and cooking items. They also sell a few basic things you may need for a baby, like paper nappies, bottles etc.You should also be able to buy wood and firelighters here for your Braai.

Riversdale General

  • Public Telephones

There are public telephones in Hoof straat( main street), they are quite close to the post office. There are coin phones and card phones, I would advise a card phone for long distance calls. Ask at Supermarkets to buy the cards for the phones.

  • Post Box for letters/ Postcards

If you already have stamps on then you can post your postcards at the post box in Hoof street ( Main road), the post box is just next to the post office.
