Exploring Lalbagh Fort

This unfinished Mughal fort offers a glimpse into Dhaka's historical significance.

Construction began in 1677, initiated by Prince Mohammed Azam. Due to a series of unfortunate events, including the death of his daughter, the fort was never completed. However, three main structures were finished by 1684: the Mausoleum of Pari Bibi, the Diwan, or Hall of Audience, and the Quilla Mosque.

Must-See Highlights

🏰 The Mausoleum of Pari Bibi showcases stunning black basalt, white marble, and colorful encaustic tiles.
🕌 The Diwan features a museum with Mughal miniature paintings and artifacts.
💧 The disused bathing tank outside holds echoes of Mughal bathing rituals.

Accessible freely, Lalbagh Fort is suitable for tourists, families, and history enthusiasts.
