The Great Hall of the People is a monumental building located in Tiananmen Square, Beijing, where major governmental events unfold. This structure, completed in 1959, serves as the main venue for the National People's Congress.

Founded by the Chinese government, the Great Hall occupies a site with historical significance, previously home to the Taichang Temple. Its Soviet neoclassical design features on the ¥100 note and represents the enormity of China's political structure. Inside are 29 rooms named after provinces, a grand banquet hall where President Nixon dined, and a 10,000-seat auditorium displaying a communist red star in a galaxy of lights.
