SVNIT Canteen: Don't miss anything...eat till you...

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

No this is not a restaurant but a college canteen but believe me unlike many other canteens across different universities this is not only famous among the college students but also among the Surat city localites. And the reason is the lush green locality with the huge menu at offer and every single dish that is mouth wateringly awesome and cheap. Yes very very cheap or I should say dirty cheap. And no don't you worry about hygiene it's surely taken care of.

Maintained, owned and run by Shekhar bhai, this was and is the coolest hangout place for all youngsters and elders alike.

Just to add in a little more, in hardly Rs.100 (maxx 150) you can fill your tummy like anything which is something like 2.5 dollars.

    Favorite Dish: Mysore Dosa
    Masala Uttappam
    Ragda Samosa & Tea

Travelling by train from surat was a terrific experience. It was the only time i took the train but would recommend travelling this way throughout India. It was fast, efficient, pleasant and can have conversations with all the happy locals.

Remember to confirm all train bookings.. else you won't have an allocated seat, and will move from one compartment to the next with all luggage mis-placed. Thats what happened to us but it was fun like that.

Suvali Beach - Virgin beach... Almost!!

by udtaparindaa Updated Jun 11, 2014

Very secluded and not at all commercialized. There are no shacks, no shops around rather I have hardly seen a soul while visiting it thrice over my 4 years stay in Surat (during my graduation).

But all of it makes it a perfect place for the college students to go for their early morning fun outings or sometimes even a night-out was followed up by a visit to this place. The pics may suggest the waves aren't very strong which is quite true but I have heard during high tides the whole beach suddenly gets covered up in no time and since there are no life guards as well one's chances of slipping off are high.

Visit it in early morning with a big group and keep a good eye on the timings of high tide in this region. Sand is very fine and if you decide to bath in these waters you are surely inviting hours of washing (both yourself and clothes) to get rid of the sand.

Overall an awesome place to chill out with friends and family after taking basic precautionary measures.

I love this pic :D a little kung-fu practice in ocean :P the route from city

    non alcoholic state

Favorite thing: the city of surat comes under non-alcohol state of gujarat. so no alcohol is served in surat, except for some 5 star hotels where you have to show your passport that you are not from india.
so be carefull when drinking in public places. you can only drink inside your house or hotel.
