Colaba Causeway Market is the most pleasant of all the markets to walk around - in spite of the pests and beggars - at least this market is clean with interesting stuff to look at and buy. On the one side of the pavement there are stalls and on the other side little shops. There are also enough restaurants and coffee shops to choose from in this area.
Colaba is a great area to spend some time.
Although it is the main tourist area, it is still very typical of India city life.
You will find street markets, restaurants, bars, hotels of all sorts, emporiums, movie houses, most services, McDonalds (if you have to), churches etc etc here.
It is very lively and does not go to sleep untill the early morning hours.
This is also where you will find the Gateway of India, and boat trips to Elephanta Island.
It is also the area where there are many touts and street kids, it can become a bit much at times, but one do learn how to deal with this after a while.
One of the livest avenues of Mumbai. At the back side of the Gate Of India and Taj Mahal Hotel, this street is the heart of Colaba Quartier. Cafes, restaurants, cinema (Regal), lots of stores and souvenirs shops. A must for every visitor...
