    Jimbaran Fishing

by machomikemd Written Jan 6, 2014

    2 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

the southern bali area around Jimbaran and areas north of Ngurah Rai International Airport before the Discovery Plaza Mall are popular fishing areas for local fishermen and although you hardly see fishing boats in the morning, there are many local fishermen riding their local fishing boats usually at night to catch seafoods like fish, crustaceans, octopus and anything in between and they usually arrive at dawn to sell their catch to the markets or to local restaurants and hotels.

if you happen to be jogging at the beach at sunrise, you would see the local fishermen returning with the day's catch.

Jimbaran Warnings and Dangers

  • Rush hour traffic

Try to avoid going through Kuta as everyone is getting off work. You will find yourself surrounded by scooter, going no where very fast.

  • Locals selling various stuff

While you are enjoying your seafood, be prepared to be harassed by locals trying to sell you various stuff ranging from toys, kites to clothes. They can be quite persistence, so be prepared to have some patience when trying to get rid of them.

When the seafood restaurant is weighing the seafood, please observe the weight careful and get a good deal as the price is calculated per gram. If not, the restaurant may try to overcharge you.

Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: It is good to take a sarong along with you on day trips. You never know when you will need to be properly dressed to visit a temple.

Photo Equipment: Be sure to take along plenty of film or memory cards.

Miscellaneous: Must haves are sunscreen, a flashlight, your prescription meds, and an extra pair your prescription glasses. I learned the last one from experience.
