Timeless Serenity at Ginkaku-ji
Ginkaku-ji, or the Silver Pavilion, offers a tranquil escape in Kyoto's bustling environment.
Founded in 1482 by shogun Ashikaga Yoshimasa, the temple originally served as a retirement villa. Although it was meant to be adorned with silver, the plan was never fulfilled. Posthumously, it became a temple and has since been recognized for its exquisite architecture and serene gardens, featuring raked white sand cones representing mountains.
