  • Almaty Metro

    Almaty Transportation

Almaty's brand new metro only has one line, but that line is quite useful as it crosses the centre from the train station in the north, down to near the Republic Square, then west out to the suburbs. The three most useful stations for me were Zhibek Zholy (near to the central pedestrian street and Panfilov Park), Almaly (close to many cafes and...

    Almaty Things to Do

Who comes to Kazakhstan to ski? Well, Prince Harry did with his girlfriend, so if it's good enough for him, it's good enough for me. Medeu had a fair amount of snow on the ground, but a steady stream of people carrying skis and snowboards suggested that taking the cable car up to Shymbulak ski resort was a good idea, and so it proved to be. I've...

Atyrau in comparison to other cities in Kazakhstan is like a Gold rush town from America when whites began the gold rush frenzy in the states except its Black Gold(Oil)Town is full of prostitutes and live in temporary wives for expats while there away from there legal wife at home.Resraurants are overpriced and the Flights and hotel prices are similar to what you will find in Europe.Dont go to Atyrau and expect scenary there is none.Almaty has the potential to be a holiday destination for overseas holiday makers with plenty to do and has good scenery.Astana well if your into architecture go there but besides that its boring. Its a city without a soul and a heart beat. Its like a pair of shoes straight out of the box but has not yeath been worn.
