Fisherman's Wharf Tips (4)

Fisherman's Wharf Convention Centre

I visited the Fisherman's Wharf Convention Centre in January 2006 during a daytrip from Hong Kong to Macau.

At the time of my visit the convention centre was nearing completion, but much of it was still closed.

The convention centre looks like a theme park. Amongst the various novelty attractions are a model of a volcano (Vulcania), which I believe you can go inside, some mock Roman ruins and an ampitheatre, a row of tall Amsterdam-style buildings housing shops and restaurants, a Venetian style harbour and traditional Portuguese style architecture (whitewashed buildings with yellow trims and blue and white wall tiles).

The mock streets within the site are lined with luxury restaurants and boutique shops, but many of these had “opening soon” or “tenants to be announced” signs outside them when I visited.

There is an area with fairground rides and fast food kiosks, and a large casino nearby.

It certainly looked as though it would be a popular tourist attraction once it is completed, but at the time of my visit there were more builders and security guards on site than tourists.

Fisherman's Wharf

Fisherman's Wharf is one of the sights that you will see first when you arrive in Macao by ferry from Hong Kong.
It looks like an ancient fortress in the first moment, but in fact it is nothing else than a theme-park, a convention-centre and shoppingmall built in the old style with a lot of kitch...
You will see replicas there of the Colloseum, of Amsterdam and other european sights.

Macau fisherman's wharf

The Macau Fisherman's Wharf is the first theme park in Macau. It is located in the Macau Peninsula, near the Hong Kong- Macau Ferry Pier. it was the first place I've been to in Macau after I passed the customs.
I don't recommend buying anything from the stores there as its way overprices but it's an interesting place, I really enjoyed my time there despite the very bad rain.

Fisherman's Wharf

the casino cum shopping cum entertainment complex near the Outer Harbour Macau Ferry Terminal, you would not miss it once your are arriving at the Ferry Terminal as it is located just a 5 minute walk from the Ferry Terminal. The Best deal here that there is no admission fee to enter this huge entertainment cum casino complex.

Fisherman's Whar is Macau's first theme park (but the difference with other theme parks is that the Casinos are located inside the theme park (the Babylon Casino), whereas in other theme parks around the world, they are located outside). It has an area of over 111,500 square meters (about 28 acres) and was opened in 2005. The Fisherman's wharf is divided into three main sections: Dynasty Wharf, East Meets West and Legend Wharf. the park has over 150 stores and restaurants, the Babylon Casino, the Rocks Hotel and a slot machine hall and 6 amusement rides.

Opens: 24/7
