The monument is located in the Park next to the Museum. It honours past ethnic warriors, and at the base of the monument are brass plaques/murals of the warriors.
The park is actually build on an old plot of chinese graveyard.,
The Sarawak Warrior Monument was constructed in November 29, 1990
The monument is dedicated to the past warriors of Sarawak such as Datu' Patinggi Ali and Rentap. This is what written on the memorial:
"In memory of the members of the Sarawak constabulary and the Malaysian, British and Commonwealth armed forces and civilians who lost their lives in the defence of right and liberty 1948-1966."
May they rest in peace.
Next to the Sarawak Museum is the Warrior Monument Park. The main highlight of the park is the monument dedicated to the warriors of Sarawak. There is also a fountain leading towards the monument which is located on an elevated ground.
The park is actually build on an old plot of chinese graveyard, so don't be suprise if you stumble upon one of them ( there's lots of them!) while strolling in the park.
