Eat a durian - or let it be

If you like to try out foreign tastes and exotic fruits, durians might be a challenge for you. To those who are not familiar with this fruit, the smell of it may be really awkward. People have some unflattering descriptions for it – I will not use them here, let's just say it's a stinky fruit. Fortunately, it has not the same taste, although that is a very exotic one and may be repellent in combination with the overall smell.
You haven't been turned off by now? You have bought your durian? Good! Be careful when you eat it. First, you may chow one of your teeth off, if you do not know about the large seeds, similar in size to those of avocado. Durians have around four to six parts, each of them containing such a seed with the pulp being around it. The second tip is about the consistence of this pulp. It is very slimy and you will need to wash your hands again after eating the fruit.
Note that most hotels and many public buildings have banned durians from their premises due to its smell. You may even pay a fee several nights worth for the room being unrentable. Better buy your durians directly from a street vendor and eat them right there.

A very special fruit - love it or hate it!!

Durian. Be prepared for a very special smell. It might take a little while to get used to the smell and taste. However, it tastes much better than it smells.
It is most often forbidden to take durians in hotels or taxis and absoloutly forbidden in airplanes. You'll get fined if you do!
