Shalimar Gardens

Old Cliffie has visited most of the major Moghul sights in northern India, which explains why Lahore has to be on the 'must see' list in Pakistan. The Shalimar Gardens, close to the city, were built as a pleasure garden and summer palace by one of the great Moghul emperors, Shah Jahan, in the middle of the 17th century. The gardens and fountains provide a restful refuge from Lahore's scorching summer heat.
