MOOMBA. I'd passed this place...
MOOMBA. I'd passed this place countless times before I actually had dinner in it...from the outside, it looked a little too intimidating to venture into and my wallet was shy. But what a pleasant experience it turned out to be (and not very expensive at all)!
The decor is TO DIE FOR. Anyone considering redecorating their house should visit this place first to steal some of their fantastic ideas :) Too bad I'd almost finished redoing my place when I first visited! The first floor is like an expanded living room with lots of huge, comfy couches to curl up in. Fabulous lighting...they actually have candles in tiny niches in the wall (the soot from the flame adds even more character!)
Favorite Dish: The pasta's supposedly pretty good (but don't take my word for it as I'm off carbo for the moment), and they have a wide selection of risottos and entrees (including ostrich!).Add to your Trip Planner
Get ready for a shameless...
Get ready for a shameless plug! Well, even if my friend didn't own this joint, I would recommend it nonetheless. BITE CLUB (motto: 'We fight hunger!) has the best burgers this side of town.
Great value for your money, so it's popular with the students from the nearby universities. As a burger aficionado, I haven't been disappointed by any of their offerings yet.
Favorite Dish: Hands down, the Banzai burger: a nice thick patty liberally coated with wasabe sauce...you'll never have sinus problems again! Absolutely wicked.Add to your Trip Planner
HAP CHAN TEA HOUSE. It's...
HAP CHAN TEA HOUSE. It's quickly turned into a massive franchise operation, but thank goodness there's one near me in Quezon City!
Don't let the greasy spoon atmosphere turn you off, although the Quezon City branch is a lot more decent than the original one in Malate. While the tiny Malate branch regularly has people lining up outside just for a meal, this one is a lot more spacious...although it can get pretty crowded as well! But patience has its rewards...yum, yum.
And once you're there, look around you...almost everyone dining is Filipino-Chinese, which is always a good sign!
Favorite Dish: Steamed fish fillet smothered with fried garlic and sweet soy sauce! Simply divine. They cook their steamed broccoli the same way...even George Bush would be a believer if he just had a taste. Their fragrant Thai jasmine rice is a fitting accompaniment. The fish fillet isn't on the menu though (you can tell who the regular patrons are when they ask for it). A couple of my friends are eternally grateful to me for introducing them to this place...as one of them put it: 'CHAMPION!!'Add to your Trip Planner
