The cable car to Sentosa is a good and expensive transport, but also an excellent point of view over the harbour and part of the town.
A return ticket costs S$29 including the entrance fee, ($1), While Sentosa Express charges $4.00
Don't take the cable car it's very expensive ($29 for the round trip)! you can go for free via Vivocity Mall.
The view is not that great and I normally don't get scared from being in a cable car but this time it was scary as hell because it was raining cats&dogs so I didn't enjoy the ride at all and I regretted but back then I didn't know that I have the obtion to go by Vivocity's train and for free!
The picturesque view of the city from the top of Mount Faber (which technically is not a mountain since it is just 400 feet which makes it a hill, mountains should be more than 1,000 feet in height) makes the tourists to unveil the bird's view the city. Singapore is regarded as one of the advanced city in South-East Asia. The cable car of Singapore is about 1.6 kms of the span. Singapore cable car was the first cable car in Southeast Asia. The specialty of the car is that it crosses a port. There are three stops like Mount Faber, Harbour Front Tower and Sentosa. These cable cars run daily from 8.30 am to 9 pm.
One Way - S$ 10.90 Adult, S$ 5.50 Child
Return Trip - S$ 11.90 Adult, S$ 6.50 Child
It's my first time in life to take cable car. Unbelievable? (well, in Taiwan one can take this in Wu-Lai as well, but I never...) It's really interesting to move over gambling vessels from trade center to Sentosa. At port buildings are under booming construction, Singapore is small country, but has big ambition in the world.
At first, I was quite hesitant to ride the cable car coz of the height. But after a little while, I found it quite enjoyable. You could see the beautiful sights of Singapore from above. It's better during nighttime where lights dotted the skyline. Cheaper to get the package, about SD40-50 which includes cable car, selected Sentosa attractions, plus bonus Jewel Box Snow Attraction and Chinatown Heritage Centre. Better not lost the stubs coz you might need them later.
This is a nice way to see the skyline. You get a nice view. On Sentosa-they have the Carlsberg Tower-which you pay a lot to see the same view and you are actually higher on this cable car.
There are two types of cable cars. The normal and the glass ones (more expensive). If you really love cable cars-you can have a catered dinner on one.
Cable car starts it's way at Mt Faber (tallest mountain/hill on Singapore) then it glides down to the World Trade Center. Most people get the cable car here-since it connects with the MRT Harbourfront station.
At the Mt. Faber station-they have a nice koi pond and beautiful outlook onto Sentosa. They have a restaurant and wine bar here.
There is a recorded message, you can listen to the history of Singapore. It also points out key attractions.
This is great for kids. Not great in windy weather.
The cable car to Sentosa Island is, in my opinion, the best way to get there! It is not only scenic, its fun!!
I'm sure it wasn't very expensive either.
If you are scared of heights, do not take this, as the carriage is glass-bottom.
Sentosa Island is a MUST see when you go to Singapore...
they have 2 types of cable cars- one is more expensive than the other, one has a longer cue than the other one, and the position of the seats would be different, but for me any will be good coz both have great views anyways...
There are many means of transport that can get you to Sentosa Island, but only one is really unique - the Cable car to Sentosa island. The location of the Cabel car is Mount Faber on the south coast of Sinapore. The return trip ticket for adults is 9.90 Singapore dollars.
It gives you a great view of the island and the first sight of Merlion is magnificant.
If it is your first time travel to Sentosa, it is a must to take a cable car from the city to the island. Its the longest cable car ride and you should definitely take it to get the bird's eye view of the whole island.
You can take a cable car from Mt Faber or Harbourfront. Also, you can either buy one way trip or a return trip. My suggestion is to buy a one way and then get a free shuttle bus back to the city.
The best way from Singapore to Sentosa Island is by Funicular - apparantley!! I hate heights!!
But a fab trip to Singapore would not be complete without this experience.
The views are very scenic, and although the car is rocky! you will be ok, Im glad that I did it!*
