Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP) stands as a hallmark of modern architecture in Seoul. Commissioned to replace the Dongdaemun Stadium from the 1920s, this cultural complex was designed by the late Zaha Hadid.

Opened in 2014, the DDP is touted as the largest three-dimensional atypical structure globally, showcasing undulating forms in aluminum and concrete. Key features include galleries, event spaces, design shops, and landscaped areas leading to the roof. The adjacent Dongdaemun History & Culture Park highlights the area’s past, including military remnants from the 16th century and elements of the Joseon dynasty, like the original Seoul City Wall.
