Gulliver's Traveler's Tavern Tips (8)

Gullivers' Tavern: Nice place to meet friends and "ho's" 2

part two of my gullivers' tavern part tip as I was on a revisit in this bar 2 days ago.

I heard that This was A Very Popular Night spot in Bangkok and I Have to Try It Myself since it is just 30 meters from my former Hotel in Amari Boulevard her in Sukhumvit Soi 5. People are very friendly and I met and made friends with some like aa Sri Lankan guy and a thai Girl. I also notice that this was a "pick up place" and there are tables with single or group of thai girls that if you make eye contact, thay will approach you and make some chit chat and offer you their "night service". Be careful since not all are girls, some are ladyboys!. Although this is a decent bar, there are lots of these types there.

The Beer is not very expensive if you are used to go to Sirocco Sky Bar at Lebua at State Tower (where beer costs at least 350 baht an order) 1 bottle of Singha Beer (Famous Local Brand) is 120 Baht, Guiness and Budweisser is 150 Baht. My favorite Chang Beer at 110 Baht a bottle, San Miguel Beer at 120 Baht and Beer Lao at 95 Baht. My favorite Appetizers include: Chicken Strips at 125 baht. Tod Mud Pla (a thai fish cake) is 95 baht, Shrimps Spring roll at 105 Baht.

Opens: 11:00 am to 1:00 am everyday

Dress Code: You can wear anything there, it is a very informal place and is very lively. It reminds me of Friday's and even typical Single's Bar and Irish Pubs in the states.

Gullivers' Tavern: Bad Girls & Tourists

I walked into Gullivers late one night. Ordered a drink then a girl slid up next to me and said "where you hotel".I moved away and sat down near a group of girls, one of them offered me her friend who spoke no English.Another girl came up and said I don't like "farang" Cheap Charlie....? I smiled and just sip my drink......?

There are two Gullivers in BKK.One off Sukhumvit Road and the other side of town at the end of Khaosan Road. Both are "farang" friendly bars to drink at and for watching sports as there are T.Vs in every corner. The one in Sukhumvit is large and there is an outside area to sit .The one at Khaosan Road can get very lively late especially on Fr /Sat.There are about four pool tables ,a dart board upstairs and there is free internet service. Drinks here are "pricey" but there are a variaty of beers and a happy hour, good music and plenty of helpful staff.Try the fried rice served in a whole pinapple or the fish & chips.Later in the evenong you will see many ladies of the night ready to rock n' roll. Check them out dancing around midnight

Gullivers' Tavern: Entrance fee if you're black ...

My friends and I were all given the OK to enter this night club/bar, except my friend, who was asked to pay because he is BLACK. Needless to say this was extremely upsetting and humiliating. And the reason given for this was that Nigerians always cause trouble here. Now not only is this an extremely racist comment, but also an ignorant one, since my friend in English. This of course doesn't change anything. Please boycott this place that has decided to completely disregard the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

Gullivers' Tavern: Khao Sans premier drinking spot

Gullivers on Khao San is by far the best drinking establishment on Khao San road.
The staff, the atmoshpere and the location all help to make it a buzz everytime you go in.
The staff, are courteous and efficient, friendly, and always on hand.
The night life in Gullivers is great. Pumping music, a dance floor at the far end and an upper bar with pool tables and more relaxed atmosphere than the full on "club" feel down stairs.
I lived in this bar for 4 months solid. In the day times its not so packed, and you can enjoy breakfast and have aread of the free newspaper. Happy hour starts at 3pm and continues until 9pm.
If you want to get some serious pool playing done, then I recommend the day time, as by 8pm the place is filling up, and the upstairs tables get a little busy.
The food in Gullivers is spot on, with a really wide selection of food. The same goes for the beers.
The whole venue is run very professionally (I know first hand) and I think you couldn't fail to have a good time there.
And they also have free internet for paying customers... bargain !

Dress Code No real dress code to speak of. As with most of Bangkok, men should wear a top at all times (vests are fine). You will be asked to put one on if you come in bare chested.
Shorts are fine, as are flip flops (thongs).
