Charm of Sitora-i Mokha Khosa
Located 6km north of Bukhara, Sitora-i Mokha Khosa served as the summer retreat for the last emir, Alim Khan. Completed between 1912 and 1918, this palace exhibits a unique combination of Russian architecture and Central Asian motifs.
Alim Khan constructed this three-building complex during a pivotal time in Uzbek history. The palace is noteworthy for its mixture of styles and lavish decorations. Unique features include a pool where women of the harem bathed, and a wooden pavilion from which the emir would throw apples to his favorite court members.
