    BRISBANE AIRPORT IS WELL RUN

by davidjo Written Aug 10, 2016

Flying out of the domestic terminal i thought everything was well organised but i must admit i was not used to the machines to check-in, print the boarding pass , and get tickets for your luggage so i had to get one of the staff to help us. After completing these necessities it is a few minutes walk to the gates but there are many shops, restaurants, cafes, newsagents etc. There are plenty of comfortable seats by each of the gates and on the whole we enjoyed passing through the airport.

Brisbane has the third busiest airport in Australia, with destinations both within Australia, and internationally, including Taiwan, Los Angeles, Tokyo, Seoul, Singapore and Dubai. It's a major hub for Qantas, Jetstar and Virgin. The airport is about 12 kilometers outside Brisbane's centre, and can be reached by taxi, bus or train. The details are on the airport's website.

    WHAT TO DO IN TRANSIT

by balhannah Updated Feb 5, 2013

    4.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Located close to the Airport is the DFO & AIRPORT VILLAGE........
Direct Factory Outlets [DFO] are Brisbane's biggest outlet sale super stores, with the Airport DFO having 120 individual stores. As with all these outlet stores, make sure you have an idea of prices.
I usually come away with some good bargains.
We come by car to shop, the worst part is finding a park, we literally have to wait until somebody drives out to get a park, it is THAT popular.
Lunch we have at the food court where there is quite a good selection of food.
If you need money, on either side of the food court are two ATM's

    Hours are 7 days : 10am to 6pm.

It is located at 1 Airport Drive, which is only 4kms from the Airport.

The Brisbane Airport has a complimentary [orange] courtesy bus which runs every 20mins between the International Airport and DFO & AIRPORT VILLAGE from 6.30am to 6.30pm

    BRISBANE AIRPORT LONGER TERM PARKING

by balhannah Written Feb 4, 2013

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

At last we have more than one choice for longer term parking at Brisbane Airport!
A little competition is good for better prices!

If you are leaving your car and heading off somewhere by plane, I noticed the Airport had deals of $49 for a weekend, and $99 for a week, $149 for 2weeks and $249 for 4 weeks, this was in 2013.

For more information and deals, check the airport site
    http://www.bne.com.au/

BUDGET AIRPORT PARKING is another company that offers long-term parking. It is a short distance from the Airport, and offers a FREE SHUTTLE SERVICE TO THE AIRPORT.
In 2013, they were advertising mid week parking @ $10 day.

High cost of parking Brisbane Airport

by pedroswift Updated Jun 10, 2012

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Parking costs at Brisbane Domestic Airport and International Airport are high. One of the most expensive in the world!!
Be warned that the access road into the airport has "no parking" signs and one often sees drivers being booked while they wait in the no parking areas for flights to arrive.
Pick-up & drop-off in front of the terminals for private vehicles is limited and policed.
Be warned: During peak hours, traffic in the area is chaotic (major road works) allow extra time to get to your chosen parking spot. A taxi driver told me it is not unusual to spend an hour just getting out past the airport roundabout on Friday afternoon/early evening. I didn't believe him - & chose to use that roundabout at 1800 on a Friday recently. I now believe him...it is a right mess.
Would you believe it is cheaper to park your light aircraft on the tarmac for a day than to park any car in the parking areas!!???
If you can take the AirTrain. http://www.airtrain.com.au/
Short Term Parking - Domestic Terminal & International Terminal - Suggested for stays under 6 hours. For 6+ hours use Long Term Parking.

Brisbane's International Airport, also known simply by the acronym "BNE" is Brisbane's main airport with both internationals and domestic services. It is the third busiest Airport in Australia next to Sydney and Melbourne. The airport is located to the northeast of the city center. From 2008-2009, the Brisbane Airport saw over 18.5 million passengers. The airport is serviced by the Brisbane Airtrain that provides a full rail service from the city center to and from the International and Domestic areas of the airport.

  • To and fro the Airport into City

by xuessium Updated Apr 4, 2011

Brisbane International/Domestic Airport is functional - it doesn't deliver a "wow" kick but it doesn't warrant plenty of yawns too. It is a busy airport, operating 24 hours and is the largest capital city Airport in area in Australia. There are a number of DFSs as well as cafes and eateries for you to wear some time away.

And you will be pleased to know as a visitor, Brisbane Airport is located just 20 minutes from the CBD so no long torturous rides.

One of the easiest way to get into the city is to hop onto the Airtrain. It is very comfortable, cool, clean and effortless, connecting Domestic and International Airports with the city.

The same Airtrain also connects to The Gold Coast after passing through the City along the same line.

The price of the ticket is A$13.50 1 way from Airports to City (circa Aug 08) but you can actually grab cheaper tickets along Queen Street Mall at A$12 (which I did). You can also book online for the tickets and get a 10% discount.

    Brisbane Airport

by tiabunna Updated Apr 4, 2011

    4.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Airports don’t excite most people, only the destinations to which they lead. Some are better than others though. Some are subject to curfews and so on.

Brisbane is fortunate to have the newest airport of all major Australian cities: it opened as recently as 1988 and replaced the (adjacent) Eagle Farm airport. There is scope to extend both its runways and terminals, to avoid future congestion – quite important, in view of the large traffic increases. The International Terminal is currently being expanded (see photo).

For travellers, a key consideration at Brisbane is that it is not subject to curfews, as is Sydney – this can be an important issue for international flight schedules. Domestically it also is the base for VirginBlue Airline and is well served by both Jetstar, Qantas and regional airlines, and has large modern terminals, so you can travel onwards from here to most Australian destinations with little difficulty. The airport is adjacent to the Gateway Motorway and a rail link provides a connection between terminals (see next tip) and from the airport to the City and to the Gold Coast.

    Airport via Car or Monorail

    Airport to Brisbane:
If you are driving into Brisbane from South or North - you don't need to go back into Brisbane City as the Motorway from the north and south coast gives you the option of going direct to the airport.
Or, there is a mono-rail which connects the airport to the city centre which leaves every couple of minutes. V. cool.

Brisbane Airport, have you wondered how far it is from Brisbane? Yes?
Answer ...15kms [20mins] or from the Gold Coast, about 85kms or 45mins,

Sunshine coast is about 1hour, depending from where you are coming from. If from Noosa, allow approx 2hours.

Want to use the Internet whilst waiting,
No problem,Internet Kiosks are located on levels 2 and 3 of the International Terminal.

    Baggage a problem?
There are now lockers available in all sizes at the International Terminal (ground floor at the entrance to the public carpark), a much needed addition.....
Here are the prices for 4hours.... Initial Fee Second Hire Period (4 hours) Additonal Fee Third Hire Period (16 hours) Total (24 hour period)

    Small
    $AUD 4.00 $AUD 2.00 $AUD 2.00 $AUD 8.00

    Medium
    $AUD 6.00 $AUD 2.00 $AUD 2.00 $AUD 10.00

    Large
    $AUD 8.00 $AUD 2.00 $AUD 2.00 $AUD 12.00

From oversea's and can't find you way around?
No need to worry, here we have Volunteer's who just love helping visitor's to Brisbane. Don't be afraid to go and ask for help!

    In Transit?
I can vouch for the lovely, comfortable departures lounge, I just sink into them and relax, I am sure you will too! Don't feel like a sleep, well, the local television is on and there are desks for writing up your diary!

If you are here for a longer time, then there is a
FREE A NO 1 COURTESY BUS to the DFO SHOPPING CENTRE
which is a Direct Factory Outlet with a wide range of retail stores and eateries. It departs regularly from the International Terminal on Level 4 and the Airport Village bus stop, just a short 10min drive.

    Hungry?
Plenty of options for food, most of them are on Level's 3&4, but one on Level 2.

    Shopping
A good choice of duty free shopping

    Money Exchange
Travelex for all types of money exchange, and they also have an ATM located on each level for Australian and foreign cash withdrawals.

    Need a Car?
Hire car companies are located on Level 2.

If somebody is coming to pick you up, then tell them to come later than your arrival time, as the Airport car parking is very expensive.
I find it better for me to wait an extra 10mins outside at the pick-up and drop-off area, rather than them arriving early and paying a large fee.
Remember, Attendants will ask your friend or who ever is picking you up to move on if you are not there. It is just that, pick up....drop off!

Brisbane domestic airport toilets are dirty, wet and stinky. If you are travelling to or through the airport avoid having carry-on luggage you have to leave on the ground-unless it has wheels/is waterproof. Also make sure you take tissues, they don't replace the toilet paper very promptly or clean the seats. For a capital city in a first world country and the entrance to the sunshine state I believe the toilet facilities are not up to scratch. I would rather pay a restroom attendant.

Airport Transfers, particularly at late hours

by DSwede Written Jun 5, 2008

Many people have already commented on the Airtrans line that connects you into the city and allows services to the coasts.

However, the last train is 8pm. After that, taxis can be expensive alternatives, costing ~$40 AUD to the city.

The other option is the Coachtrans shuttle bus. There is a desk in the arrival hall of the both the domestic and international terminals at the airport where you can purchase your transfer ticket, but like most things in QLD, the desk closes early (about 9pm)

Do not worry just yet, because the last transfer leaves at 11:55pm. The service desk will be closed for these late pickups so you must have already pre-booked and paid online by credit card first.

$12 one way to the city, or $22 return to the city.
Check the web page for costs to Gold Coast, cruise terminal, etc.
