Flew by an internal flight from Havana to Cayo Largo, the flight took 35 mins. The airport is small but well laid out and easy to arrive & depart from. On arrival there is a small baggage claim area, we were greeted by a band & dancers. There is transport to take you to the marina or resorts.
On departing there were about 6 check in desks, there were flights departing to Havana & Varadero. There were 2 gates A & B with plenty of seats. There were a few shops to buy gifts & snacks. The departure areas were clean, spacious & air conditioned.
Bicycles were available for rent in Cayo Largo. They're an ideal way to get around, as nowhere on the island is far enough to justify a car.
The weblink below shows an aerial view of the Island with some facts.
The only way of getting to or from Cayo Largo seems to be by air. I got here via a DC-3 Dakota from Cuba's main resort: Varadero.
A picture of the plane and its crew can be seen on my Varadero page under "Tourist Trap" tip.
There is just one road in Cayo Largo, going from La Marina harbour to the airport and on to the resort area.
There is a free shuttle minibus every 30 min. in both ways, or you may rent a bicycle, or you can just walk. Impossible to loose your way.

These are the planes you need to take to get to Cayo Largo. Really old and rusty. Quite an adventure by itself.
