    Standby rendition

by Assenczo Written Mar 11, 2016

Tickets to Tobago are sold at the Piarco Airport for almost for half the price of the same flight offered on the Internet. The catch is that last minute flights are not available (at least when Carnival is on the horizon) and only standby tickets are being sold. With limited days on the itinerary (going home is getting more imminent by the hour) this might look as horrifying possibility. But this is TNT after all – do not worry, be happy, just like the locals suggest! Apparently, after buying a standby ticket (for the next available plane out of many hourly departures) one moves on to different counter and there another employee indicates what time the respective person is to show up at this spot to collect the real ticket. At the appointed time the hopefuls gather and the airline employee starts to dish out the lucky tickets. At the time of “research” there were at least TEN standby candidates and they all got their treasured boarding passes. For a relatively small airplane this was significant portion of the plane’s load, which means that many people did not show up! But this is not all – there were even a couple of the standby people who did not show up, one hour after they purchased the tickets!! Probably the answer for such frivolity is the price of the journey – no more than 25$US.
