The Durres Amphitheatre is a remarkable remnant of Roman architecture located in Albania. Constructed in the early 2nd century AD under Emperor Trajan, it was one of the largest amphitheaters of its time.
Once seating between 15,000 to 18,000 spectators, this archaeological site was rediscovered in 1966 and features some remains of a Byzantine chapel adorned with beautiful mosaics. The amphitheatre is situated on a hillside within the ancient city walls of Durres and showcases the rich cultural heritage of the area.
