We got stuck in Antwerp due to working activities on the railway and could'nt return back to our city Bruges by train. With a lot of trouble we finally arrived back in Bruges after many hours. It was already late in the evening. It was my girlfriend's birthday. We hadn't been able to celebrate in a proper way yet, due to these unforseen circumstances. We would've loved to end the evening with a cosy dinner. This way we would've still been able to celebrate her birthday and forget a littlebit about our misery. This restaurant Le Bon Vivant immediately came to our minds. This restaurant still serves meals untill late in the evening. This is supposed to be unique in Bruges... Our disappointed was huge when we got treated very unpolite by the owner from the moment we entered his restaurant! As soon as he saw us enter, he gestured with his hand that we should leave immediately and called at us:"We are closed!" He didn't even approach us, he was sitting at a table in the back of the restaurant. We felt like we were treated like scum... Ofcourse we understood he wanted to close up, but he could've atleast made it clear to us in a much friendlier way. We had a rough day. If he would've approached us in a polite way and told us : "Excuse me, but I'm afraid we're closed", then we wouldn't have minded at all. Although I suggest the next time the owner should close his door or put up a 'sorry we're closed' display. We'd been to this restaurant before in the past, as we live in Bruges and we were also looking for a late dinner back then. The food's okay. But if you' re looking for a friendly welcome, then I'm afraid you're at the wrong address. You'll be better off at another restaurant in Bruges! You definitely won't ever see us at this place again!
