Nobody misses to visit Golden Sands if goes to Varna. It’s not that it is so special just very popular. Golden sands (or Zlatni Piasatsi) is one of the most famous resorts in Bulgaria. It is full of luxury and small hotels too. A walk on the main alley is pleasant and you can buy souvenirs, unfortunately is very crowded. Restaurants, bars, amusement attractions – it’s just a resort but could be an option for a day trip if you don’t choose to stay there.
If you're looking for a typical beach holiday, head out to Golden Sands. The resort is located 18km North of Varna and has indeed a kilometers long stretch of fine golden sand. You have got a vast collection of accommodation here from recently built luxurious hotels to the more modest buildings from socialist times. Golden Sands offers all kinds of recreational actvities and is very popular (crowded) in summer.
GOLDEN SANDS ,4km long , is the largest beach resort on the Northern Black Sea coast.
It is situated 19 km north-east of Varna, 490 km east of Sofia.
Golden Sands is set on well-wooded terraces, the last foothills of the Balkan range reaching down to the sea. Its four kilometre beach slopes gently into water which has no dangerous currents. There is a wealth of sporting and other facilities available, all very moderately priced. Water-skiing, wind-surfing, paraskung, snorkelling, tennis, volleyball, mini-golf and croquet can fill the visitor's day, and a choice of restaurants, bars, discos and nightclubs provide evening entertainment.
The beach is really gold. Sand is clean and pleasant for walking. The water is very warm in July and August. Sunbeds and umbrellas are payable.
We stayed at Zlatni Piasaci, very commercialized resort, but very beautiful , with friendly people, good food and very nice beach. I've been there in years 2003 and 2004 and many new hotels and buildings were built in 2004.
