Favorite thing The beautiful cemetary a little bit up the hill, it's something you should definately see. Built in the 19th century, its arcades and unique atmosphere is something you'll love to see. Although it's not the oldest cemetary in the country, you'll enjoy the experience. Likewise, it's the final resting place of many croatian historic personalities, such as the first president of Croatia Franjo Tudman, the famous basketball player Drazen Petrovic etc.
Favorite thing Of course, visit the Old town of the city, and inside there the St Mark Church.
Fondest memory Croatian people is very friendly, I like them all, specially my little sister Sanja, who was my tour guide and loyal friend. Many many many thanks (hvala lepo) to her and Ivan her boyfriend, who supported me and made the things there more easier and pleasant for me, they helped me a lot (mnogo mnogo!).
Favorite thing Just have a cup of coffee, and enjoy the day loooking at the nice architecture. It offers a variety of beautiful exapmles of architecture, nice cafes, restaurants, shopping malls and parks...
In my opinion it is a city with great atmosphere... hope you like it too!
Fondest memory Taking a walk down 'Ilica' st., just relaxing and taking it easy.
Favorite thing This is Jarun, one of the youngest residential areas in Zagreb. Buildings are not too big, but still quite spacy, surrounded by lots of greens and trees. There is a big lake nearby, which is in fact a heart of Jarun area, today a popular resort for not only for people from Zagreb but for our dear visitors as well! Please check other tips here and you will see that I have been mentioning Jarun many times!
Fondest memory You will find a lot of Jarun pictures on my pages...no wonder cos Jarun is my favorite place to be when I am home, and whenever possible, I am using one of its many recreational resources, during all four seasons! Jarun has lately become a favorite destionation, not only for Zagreb residents but also for the people from the other areas and places. Unfortunaly thus has Jarun become a bit too crowded but the city has recently started to renovate another recreational park of which I will report separately! :-)
Favorite thing We visited 'Trg bana Jelacica', a plaza located at the center of the city that night. It could be a perfect place for street performers, but people only pass by there. I felt that it was a beautiful place but something was missing
Favorite thing I arrived in Zagreb by train, so the first thing I saw of the city is the Green Horse Iron of Lenuzzi(I don't know if it's right in english), the Tomislavov Trg.. In that place in front of the train station you can see the Statue of King Tomislav and behind it you can see the Artistic Building (in the photo).
Favorite thing Now I'm going to show you some pictures about the city. Here you'll see the National Croatian Museum.
In front of the museum you'll see a little fountain that is a bit particular. If you look better the position of the staute surrounding it, you can see that they are made sexual games.
If you want you can go to see the Mimara Museum (right) where you can look more than 3750 arts from the begin of time until now. At left you can see the House of Artists, where take place some multiethnic conventions.
Favorite thing ...but aparently people in Zagreb, and in Croatia in general, are "mad" about Serbian folk music.
I wish the days when clubs as "Kulusic" and others in Zagreb, just like SKC in Belgrade, were working well are back.
Till then we'll just have to deal with these horrible consequences of war.
Turbo-Folk here we come!!!!! ;o)
Favorite thing Always a great view for the travelers - the main train station of the city you are visiting.
This is the train station of Zagreb. Right in front of it there is a nice park and during my stay there I can't say it was too crowded area like in other train stations I saw.
Favorite thing Visit the Old Town as well as Kaptol. Go to a soccer game,(highly recommended: Hajduk vs. Dinamo-go at your own risk!)Go to Boban's restaurant and cafe and of course check out the cafe scene on Bogoviceva. And buy a genuine neck tie (Croatian invention) as a souvenir, handcrafted by old ladies who know how to make the most high quality, best looking ties. Visit Mirigoj, the most amazing cemetery I've ever seen! Some famous graves include Drazen Petrovic (the nba's greatest ever european player). Yeah that's right hang out at a cemetery. Seriously though its something to see. After frolicking in the cemetery go to the nearby Maksimir zoo.
Fondest memory I miss the women and the alcohol/cafe scene.
Favorite thing This is in front of the St.Stephan cathedral. Sorry I don't have other information about this but you can sit around it and maybe look it up in a guidebook or something
