The museum opened its doors following a significant donation in 1921, transforming the elegant residence of Paul and Fanny Sinebrychoff into a cultural treasure.

Its architecture reflects the grandeur of the Empire style, enhanced by the opulent decor of the Empire room. The museum's core exhibition on the second floor contains over 100 works of art from notable masters, alongside historical furniture and artifacts.
