    Signs, visual illusion? only...

What do we see when we enter the savage nature, strive in the forests, walk the hills, mountains - just in short - are outside?

What did our ancestors see, what did they believe they saw? without scientific explanations, without illuminated reason?

Are there such things as antropomorphic rocks (rocks with traits of human faces)? Or is it just what we want to see?

I believe that our explanations are no better than the ones our ancestors gave. It just strikes me about every time I go out in the woods: how on earth could they live here without all the conveniences we have today? They must have had some sort of communication with nature. They had a different relation ship with nature than we have now adays. What has happened?

Nothing sweeter nothing tastier nothing healthier than fresh berries - hand-picked.

    Try'em - love'em!

Favorite Dish: Please remember: in Finalnd the every man's right guarantees you the right to pluck berries in every Finnish wood!

It pretty easy to reach Nuuksio from hte greater area of Helsinki.

If you come by car you will most probably want to drive on interstate #1 and leave at Nupuri. Here you follow the signs to Haukkalampi and Nuuksio... until you reach Haukkalampi parking area.

Your options to arrive by bus are quite good. You can take either 28T or 28A or 85 or 85A leaving from Espoon keskus.

Hidden well in the deep and wild forests are mysterious freakish anomalies of nature, hehehe.

If you believe what was true in the "old days" and I don't mean your father's (oh, when we were young...), no, I'm referring to little earlier times, then these sorts of round and deep holes in solid rocks could have been made only by something like the hiisi - as strong and cunning.

Originally in finnish folklore a hiisi was not a bad spirit nor a gobblin, but only with Christianity these pagan believes and symbols were turned into peorative and evil monsters.

Indeed these holes are quite appealing to one's illusion.

Favorite thing: Nuuskio as all of Finland is rather flat, so you won't see much but pine, birch and aspen trees. Theresore I always will seek some higher ground to get perspective and some sort of over view.

Here are the spots to hang out for a while, let down your heavy backpack and explore the close vicinity.

Fondest memory: Sometimes you get to see imposant clouds like this one, but from amidst the trees you hardly ever see them bacause you hardly ever lift your head to see what's up there...

Favorite thing: Now, why the heck has he posted such a bad picture?

Hmmmm, is there anything? except for brown leaves?

Yes, there is! That's hat it looks like when you go in autumn into the woods in hope to find mushrooms. Now, start looking for them. I can tell, you it takes a while for your eyes and brain to adjust and see exxential - the one-footed.

Can you spot them on this pick? If not don't bother going into the woods to search them for yourself =)

Fondest memory: Don't forget a basket or any sorts of bag, your pocket don't take much mushrooms.
