Galeries Lafayette Tips (78)

Lafayette Gourmet at Galeries Lafayette: Special Gourmet Foodstore

This foodstore is extra special to me. It's where I happened upon while at its main store on my first visit to Paris and I try to return each time I'm in Paris.

It is a huge space filled with all types of foodstuff-both fresh and prepared-that you'd ever want. There are stations devoted to cheese and prepared meats and stations to buy various prepared food to take away-some international.

But my favorite is its large grocery area where you can buy just about everything else.

What to buy This is where I stock up on all kinds of European chocolates at a small cost. Many brands we don't get in the US and if we do the prices are much higher than in Paris.

What to pay As much or as a little as you want

What to buy If you spend money like water do not I repeat do not enter the clothing department of this store! It is amazing, they got all the famous brands, lots of princess dresses and much more.

What to pay Waaaaaaaay to expensive!!! But definately a must visit shop.

Galeries Lafayette: Can it be any more "Haute Couture?"

My recent trip to Paris in November was the first time I had been in the "City of Lights" during the holiday season.

What a treat it was to see the festive decorative lights all around the city!

A most special treat was seeing the Galeries Lafayette's flagship store on Boulevard Haussman all decked out!

Paris was more than ever the city of the Galeries Lafayette Flagship was dressed by an amazing gown of light designed by italian artist Valerio Festi.

This "haute couture" gown was said to be inspired by the italian tradition of baroque ornaments from the region of Napoli. Hundreds of thousand light bulbs strung together reflected a beautiful embroidered theatrical front wall of the store.

Combined, it looked like multicolored neon lace.

You felt like you were walking into a *fairy tale* Palace as you entered! Then when you're "Knight in Shining Armor" takes your hand and feeds your "addiction to Dior" with a surprise gift in's like a FAIRY TALE COME TRUE! ;-)))

What to buy If you're in Paris during the holidays, just go there to admire the decor!

Gallerie La Fayette: Parisian shopping

Gallerrie La Fayette has complete selection of clothing from kids to adults and men/women...there is also a supermarkt, can't remember which floor exactly, and dine or take out food there is!

What to buy Clothes and accesories for man and womens! but I think this should be more fun for womens shopping in Paris like here.

What to pay Quite cheaper compared to those boutiques, ( of course!)

Galerias Lafayette: Galerias Lafayette

Galeries Lafayette: Shopping, Grand Style

Galeries Lafayette on Boulevard Haussmann offers an amazing shopping experience. Even if you don’t want to spend any money, visit the building. The interior domed courtyard from 1912 is remarkable. (The department store next door, Printemps, once had a similar court, but unfortunately it was taken away to add retail space. All that remains there is a café under the stained glass ceiling—still quite impressive). If you don’t mind a bit of paperwork, you can shop tax free. You can usually get a 10 percent tourist discount card, as well.

Be sure to check out the gourmet food area of Galeries Lafayette.

Métro : Chaussée-d'Antin-La Fayette, Opéra, Trinité, Havre-Caumartin
RER A : Auber
RER E : Haussmann-Saint Lazare

Open from 9h30 to 19h30 on Monday through Saturday (Thursday till 21h00)

What to pay Way too much.

Galeries Lafayette: Bonne marché à Paris nº1

This location of Galeries Lafeyette is elegant and cavernous. Although it is a chain all over France, I haven't yet seen any two that were alike either on the outside or the inside.

What to buy Just about everything is available.

What to pay I had no trouble with the prices, at least on the souvenirs and associated whatnots I bought on my first (and, to date, only) trip to Paris.
