    Mysterious restaurant

    by elgin99 Written Jun 17, 2006

In Gramtitz, near Bakenberg, is a small restaurant. The name is Schifferklause, a dirty and bad low pub. okay, they advertize with the fact that is very old, existing since some hundred of years. But bad keeps bad.
The host was out of humour, the rooms were neglected. We did not eat. So I cannot say how meals had for a quality.

It is as if the time stood still. As if you are in the time before reunification. Everywhere, in the strict sense of the word, stood products of former GDR. Like a museum.
I shot no picture. Find it on the road to Altenkirchen, turning (corner) to Gramtitz.

    Non smoking area

    by elgin99 Written Jun 15, 2006

Hi, if you are a smoker, you should not forget to buy your cigaretts during the day. At evening you can´t get some (at least on Wittow). Not in restaurants and nowhere a slot machine. And if you find one, guaranteed want not work. (lol)

    Road Conditions

by Broekie Written Apr 5, 2004

Conditions on Ruegen roads can change swiftly! One moment you're driving an ordinary road, the next moment you're on cobble stones. This particularly happens when entering small villages, but it happens also just "some where". Sometimes you see speed limits of 80 km/h (50mph). I suggest you don't try!!

Visiting Rügen, it is a must to go up the Ernst-Moritz-Arndt Tower. This 27 m ( 89 ft ) high tower offers an breathtaking view on the entire island. On clear days you could see Stralsund and Hiddensee.
