Favorite thing Just north of Kamari and on the eastern coast is the beach of Monolithos. Here you will find more peace and quiet than other Santorini beaches, however with all comforts of the other beaches as there are bungalows and facilities for snacks and meals available.
Favorite thing The photo I place in my tip is to show you on the map where the most popular beaches of Santorini are found.
Fondest memory My fondest memory was the beauty of the island, its architecture, but to be honest being a person who loves swimming in crystal turquoise waters, and white sandy beaches, I did not like the beaches in Santorini.
In fact I believe the island is not famous for its beaches, but at least the waters are clear and nice for those who wish to swim and sunbathe.
Favorite thing Located at the end of Perissa is Perivolos - a meeting point for the young at age and at heart of course, with a quiet beach featuring waterfront restaurants and fish tavernas, bars and clubs with great music, rooms to let and sport facilities.
Fondest memory My favourite beach in Santorini where i spent most of the time together with my friends.
Favorite thing The beautiful black sandy beach of Kamari streches for five miles in length along the eastern coast of the island. You don't have to walk far to find tavernas on the seafront as well as restaurants, hotels, tourist shops and entertainment spots. A number of water sports are also available like water skiing, windsurfing and paddle boats. From Fira you can take the bus to Kamari with frequent service.
Favorite thing Not far from the ancient sites at Akrotiri, is the red beach with the same name. You couldn't ask for a more breathtaking setting for a swim. Soaring red lava cliffs which drop right to the black sandy shore and into the clear blue sea make for a majestic setting and one to enjoy.
Favorite thing I read a lot about the black sand beaches on Santorini and was very excited to see them in person. And while they are indeed unique, they are not covered with "sand" at all. Instead, it is large black gravel that is extremely uncomfortable to walk on. Perissa and Kamari are the two best-known beaches. They're pretty nice, but fairly crowded. One nice thing is that you can get from Perissa to Kamari by water taxi, which is good because despite the fact that they are close together on the shore, getting from one to the other by road is an extremely long trip because there's a mountain separating them.
If you're looking for great beaches, go to Naxos. But if you have enough time while you're on Santorini, it's worth visiting Perissa and/or Kamari too.
Fondest memory We enjoyed our few days stay in Kamari - its such a contrast from Fira - and its flat!
Its a laid back cosmopolitan beach resort with a black sand and pebble volcanic beach. The sand looked finer towards the rock end which separates it from the next beach resort of Perissa.
However the beach wasn't as good as I thought it would be - plenty of facilities wiith beds and umbrellas but we were just as happy to stay on the beds around our hotel pool and gaze at the sea from there.
The resort promenade takes about 10-15 mins to stroll from one end of the other and its lined with lovely tavernas, bars and cafe - some quite upmarket. ATM's, mini-markets, shops and gryros stands are also available.
Favorite thing Perissa is the other side of the rock to Kamari - there is no direct walking path between the two beach resorts - its up and over the hill. Fortunately a water boat taxi service operates frequently between the two. There is a lovely big church behind the beach road with a tall bell tower.
We stopped here for lunch on the day we had the car and first impressions were is wasn't as upmarket a resort as Kamari and beach looked a bit more untidier i places. The beach cafes had noisy traffic going past so wasn't as peaceful - we were glad to have stayed in Kamari. The beach did look to have finer sand and as we drove through after lunch and onto Perivolos - that looked a much quieter resort although not as much choice of eateries.
Favorite thing We did a 3 hour tour on a yacht called Dreamcatcher (Santorini Saling) ... had fabulous time ... swam at couple of beaches and saw Oia village from the sea .... thanks Vladi (Captain), George (Chef) and Pete (Bartender) for a great time!!!!!
Favorite thing Ammoudi Beach is situated directly below Oia, 214 steps to be exact. There are a few charming houses and the old Venetian castle.
Favorite thing Not far from the ancient sites at Akrotiri, is the red beach. A majestic landscape with red lava cliffs, black sandy seashore and a clear blue sea...
