The Rose of Tralee Tips (1)

The Rose of Tralee

Tralee : The Rose of Tralee festival takes place every August. The basic legend was immortalised in song . A young woman is nominated to represent her city/region every year and the event is televised live, where they have a chat with the host about themselves, interests and why they should be The Rose of Tralee. Unlike Ms Universe, there's no swimsuit competition - this is very pristine and above board. Throughout the festival, each Rose is paired off with a male escort (though if they have boyfriends, they can be their escort). Judges make their decision on how the Roses behave throughout Festival week with the general public, escorts etc. It's a pile of green Paddywhackery but it brings in the tourists, so what the hey.

St Mary's Catholic cathedral is a wonderful stone building. The windows are also a feature and are lovely. Spectacular use of lighting inside adds to the effect. The building itself is airy, light,...
