Basilica of Superga
Perched atop a hill overlooking Turin, the Basilica of Superga is a testament to 18th-century baroque architecture built between 1717 and 1731 following a vow by Vittorio Amedeo II amid war threats. The basilica's striking dome provides panoramic views of the Alps.
Designed by architect Filippo Juvarra, it stands as the last resting place for members of the House of Savoy, adorned with elaborate tombs. Its historical significance also includes the tragic 1949 plane crash that claimed the Turin football team's lives, with their memorial located at the rear of the church.
