Florence has some of the most talented musicians playing in the streets at night. I have enjoyed them immensely. Some of them are classically trained in their Eastern European countries, but are unable to get work there. Others just might be doing it to support their summer travels in Europe. I have bought a number of their CDs and I continue to enjoy them while bringing back wonderful memories of my time in Florence. You can often also find them playing during the day.
If you like 60s and 70s music you will enjoy Mercer and Peres you will often find them at the Uffizi at night.
Address: Piazza Republica, Uffizi, Piazzale Michelangelo
Directions: Also Ponte Vecchio has some good young hippy type musicians.
During Christmas time it's a good choice to go to the Santa Croce church, and visit the piazza there. Sitting outside in december maybe doesn't sounds like a great idea, but the beer carousel at the piazza is really fun!
It's not like an amusment park carousel, as it goes around much slower, but it gives you plenty of time to look around at people passing by, while you sit on the chair zipping on your beer.
Just remember to wear quite much clothes, as it tend to be quite cold.
You can also buy some kind of glue wine, hot wine, that will keep you warm.
Right next to the carousel, also on the piazza, you'll also find a huge christmas market. Was very nice to just let time pass by there.
Think a beer was about 4,5 euro.
Dress Code: More or less as much clothes as possible.
Address: Piazza Santa Croce
Directions: Right in front of the Santa Croce church, you can't miss it.
Florence is beautiful at night, especially when the popular sites are lighted up in lights. Christmas time is especially beautiful. Decorations hang above the streets & Christmas trees are everywhere and people crowd the streets giving a warm & happening atmosphere
Address: Piazza Repubblica, Firenze
Need something to do at night in Florence? Go outside and wander the downtown area (not alone, though). Every night of the week in piazzas around the city you can find live music ranging from Opera to Jazz, Rock Bands to Orchestras. Buy a bottle of wine and grab some plastic cups to share. You can enjoy your wine right there in the street and listen to the tunes.
To take a break from the clubbing, unwind by the Duomo to enjoy some live music and people watching. Even at night, the architecture all around this plaza is stunning and enough to keep you occupied for a good while.
You can find local bars that serve some complimentary snacks (mini sandwiches) with your drinks. The nightlife in Florence start pretty late, around 1100pm, so it's nice to chill in smaller places like this before the big night
Besides its monuments and the beautiful frame of history culture and art, Florence can give you the opportunity to enjoy youself in the night time, thanks to the wide choice of bars, clubs, pubs and discoteques. Normally they are in the historical center of the town, and they are attended by a lot of local and foreigner people as well!
You just have to walk among the streets and you'll find what you want, but I'll give you some tip to help you in your search!
Me and my friends were desperately looking for a nighclub where we could dance. We asked from our Italian hostes and some local strangers who we met in the street, but they all told that there isn't a nightclub in the central. They said that there was one in downtown but is was closed just a few weeks ago. So we had to settle for a common pub.
How is this possible in a city size of Florence? Maybe there was one near by, but no one just didn't want to tell us, or all the nighclubs are outside the downtown.
The buildings around this Piazza are great during the day and spectacular at night with the lighting used.
just walk in the street in the night, take an aperitivo at Fusion Sushi Bar in Vicolo dell'Oro and just enjoy landscape
