La Cascina: A drink in the center of the town

    by Alex_71 Written Sep 15, 2006

    3 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

La cascina is a pub and a restaurant.During summer u can have a drink in the garden, with live music:during winter the live music is not so loud so it doesn't disturb. There is a special room for smokers that is upstairs..it's big enough and you don't feel like a strange person that smoke.
As restaurant it's good,it has different things that u don't find in every place:so not just tuscany way of cooking but also sperimental things like pig with honey(believe me..it's good)
As pub it'll cost a little bit more then others..as restaurant it'll cost more then a little bit(except for pizza that is at cheap price). It has a very good wine list but expensive

Dress Code: You can com dress as you wish bu it's better if you are a little formal

Montecatini Terme Transportation

  • Explore town on foot

Is not just my favorite way of introduction with new place here is simple very logical solution. Namely, touristic part of the town is 1,5 Km (=0,92 miles) wide. Still there is available and touristic train and taxi, bike rental and even funicular to Montecatini Alto. It is active since 1898. That is still on my list.

    Cycling

I was surprised to see flower-like decoration sculpture of man on bike. It was in front of town hall. Even, as spa town, I would thought that they promote cycling. Anyway, apparently town host UCI Road World Championships 2013 but later that year (22-29 September 2013). So, I miss that event.

Later I found out that there is option to rent a bike and hired guide and there are wide variety of independent and organised cycling tours, experiences and challenges focusing exclusively on Tuscany. Ask in touristic center near town hall and there is some offers online but I didn't try it yet.

Equipment: Bike (or rent one) and adequate cloth, shoes and helmet.
