Exceptional restaurant for that special occasion or just splashing out on a whim. Even in winter, the red carpet is laid from the front door to the car park and is kept snow free.
This is not a restaurant for the financially faint hearted. Nevertheless, the food makes up for the shock to your wallet. The staff have a meticulous eye for detail and you will be pampered from the moment you arrive to the moment you leave. The menu speaks for itself - antipastas, pastas and risottos, fish courses, fresh game, aromatic salads and to finish off, an eye popping dessert menu.
Favorite Dish: The beef fiorentina just melts. Probably the best beefsteak I have ever had.

Way out of town( half hour up hill all the way)is this wonderful restaurant with no menu.
What is fresh thast day is what you get. A family run business, a lot of thought has gone into presentation. If you visit in winter, make sure your car(or taxi)is petrol driven. Less chance of freezing. When we were last there, the taxi driver was 1 degree away from this situation with his diesel powered car.
Favorite Dish: It has to be the cervo(venison). Local wild deer, butchered by the chef

Ristorante Pontegel is one of those little places that you rarely find. Full to the brim every night of the week, this restaurant has everything. Charming staff and great food. The house specialities include cervo(venison), goulash and rabbit. Thoroughly recommend it but book in advance.
Favorite Dish: The goulash is marvellous. Just what you want in the mountains in the middle of winter

All The Restauants in the Cotina Area are good but Cortina is close to the borders of the country and seem to have a German acsent on the Food , even in the best they have to offer, this to me is not true Italian food like you can get in other parts of the country...not a bad thing just thought is was worth a mention ******
Ristorante 5 Torri is a very good restaurant located in the pedestrian area of Cortina. Here you can taste Italian dishes with a touch of local fantasy.
The service is very good and fast.
Favorite Dish: In the Ristorante 5 Torri you can taste Italian and South-Tirol cousine.
I can suggest to taste the following dishes. As starter I suggest to taste Gnocchi Verdi con speck e salsa di noci (Green dumplings with speck and souce of flanks) or a delicious Pasta alla carbonara (Italian pasta with bacon and eggs).
As main dishes I can suggest to try Scaloppe al vino bianco con patate, cipolle e speck (Escalopes cooked with white wine dresssed on a bed of potatoes, onions and speck). Otherwise you can choose Petto di pollo alla griglia con patate (Grilled chicken breast with French potatoes).
At the end you must take a wonderful homemade Strudel di mele (apple strudel).
Very fast service and good dishes made the evening fantastic!

Restaurant 5 Torri is an Italian restaurant in Italy! Nothing amazing about that but it is popular so you might not be able to get in. The reason it is popular is because the food is simple and good and reasonably priced. Ther's a good range of food on the menu and the pizzas are superb. I know you can get pizza anywhere now but a proper one makes you realise what crap Goodfellas and Pizza Hut sell. The service is good and the staff are friendly and although it is busy they don't rush you out when your meal is over. I like simple uncluttered and friendly restaurants and this is one of them.
Favorite Dish: Beer, Anti pasta, Beer, pizza, wine, coffee, grappa and more beer!
Address: Town centre
Don't let the pizzeria title fool you, this is a place where locals go because they know it is prepared exceptionally well.
This place is down the road from Cortina, in Vodo Di Cadore. You can expect the prices to be a lot less than in Cortina.
This is a family run restaurant, and the menu has many different choices, it is not limited. There is a pizza menu in the back, but I saw NO ONE eating pizza there.
Restrooms Very Clean
Staff pleasant and cheerful
The place is busy, but they manage to get things done well.
See fotos of food below.
Favorite Dish: Grilled Cheese.
Sounds not so interesting, but at my table someone chose this and everyone voted it awesom.
They also have different types of pasta and assorted meat dishes.
There is besides the normal salads on the menu, a buffet salad area with just about the best marinated onions I have ever had.
The buffet stand has a top that moves up and down so it stay totally covered until someone comes to gather goodies.
I had grilled rabbit, with polenta, which was very good.
Address: down the road from Cortina
Directions: Park across road on the right. Ristorante is painted white with green striped awnings (on left side of road).

This place is in Vodo Di Cadore which is down the road from Cortina. We wanted to get away from the tourists, and eat some local food. This place was right on the mark, featuring a varied menu, friendly family staff, clean dining room, clean restrooms, good parking across the street, and the food was what we were looking for.
Favorite Dish: I had grilled rabbit, but voted the favorite of everyone who was there to taste things was the grilled cheese.

Address: Not too far out of Cortina, about 15 minutes.
